Mark Rachesky is Founder and Chief Investment Officer of MHR Fund Management LLC, a New York-based investment firm established in 1996. Rachesky has been a hands-on investor for more than 25 years, creating long-term value across industries and markets.
Prior to founding MHR, Rachesky was the sole Managing Director of Icahn Holdings Corporation and acted as Carl C. Icahn’s chief investment advisor. Prior to his employment with Icahn Holdings, Rachesky was an investment advisor for three years for an affiliate of the Robert M. Bass Group. Rachesky is also highly involved in the biotechnology space, investing significant capital in order to advance the discovery and development of novel treatments for unmet medical needs.
Rachesky is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lionsgate Entertainment Corp., one of the leading film and television content creators in the United States, and Telesat Corp., one of the world’s largest satellite companies.
Educated in finance and medicine, Rachesky holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University School of Business, an M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine, and a B.S. in Molecular Aspects of Cancer from the University of Pennsylvania. Rachesky serves as a trustee or board member of a number of professional and philanthropic organizations, including the Mount Sinai Children’s Center Foundation and Columbia University Medical Center.
